Out of 200 Xanthones known to
science, 40 of them are found in Mangosteen. The two most beneficial
xanthones found in the Mangosteen rind are alpha mangostin & gamma
mangostin. Xanthones inherent in the Mangosteen rind have great potential to
deliver better health, energy and wellbeing.
Mangosteen Rind Powder is
extremely versatile and easy to use.
You can sprinkle it...
- Onto your favourite cereal, rice
or stir fry dish.
- Mix with yoghurt
- Stir into fruit juice & vegetable
juice
Serving size: 1/4 teaspoon per
serving (1/4 tsp= 500mg).
Herbal Tea & Mangosteen
Blend: Blend with peppermint or ginger tea
for a healthy and refreshing drink.
Ratio: Add 1/4 teaspoon of Mangosteen
Rind powder per herbal tea bag or 1 teaspoon (if using loose leaves) eg if
making a pot using say 4 herbal teabags or teaspoons; add 1 teaspoon of
Mangosteen Rind powder ( 1/4 x 4)
Concentrated Extract : Pour 1
liter of boiling water over 2-3 teaspoons of rind powder. When cool you
can add 30ml per serve to juices or herbal tea or any other drink of your
choice.
What does it taste
like?
The rind of the Mangosteen fruit has
a light woody, mild bitter quality. It could be compared with black tea
without milk added. When mixed with other foods it does not impinge upon the
flavours of your favourite dishes.
Should I add it during
or after cooking?
Either way is ok. However because
prolonged heat will diminish the antioxidant benefits through evaporation it
may be wise to keep its exposure to heat to a minimum. Adding it to an
already cooked dish will ensure this does not happen.
