FAQ's

Will it block my plumbing when I drain the bath? ( do I need a drain guard?)

No it will not but we do strongly recommend taking a few minutes to read the instructions prior to use. The instructions have been designed to ensure your clay bath experience is a positive one. The clay is in powdered form and when mixed sufficiently with water say1 -3 cups of clay in a full bath tub it has the consistency similar to that of full cream milk. So it will drain away easily. This is particularly so if you use a blender to mix it. This is our preferred method of preparation.  Very often any residue is easily swished down the drain with little effort.

Cleaning up afterward is a no fuss procedure and will not take more than a few minutes.  Incidentally the clay will clean up the inside of you drain pipes and potentially remove bacteria and moulds that cause unwanted odours.

Will I need clay dissolving agents?

No, you won't need dissolving agents with our clay. It is 100% natural and when well hydrated becomes very soft and cleans up easily.

About the aluminium in clay?

There is a little confusion with regard to any Aluminium content in clay. This it seems stems from the interchange of the description Alumina oxide with aluminium oxide. They are the same substance whose symbol is Al02.  Alumina is naturally occurring and is inert. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inert In chemistry the term inert is used to describe something that is not chemically active.

The alumina in clay is a natural mineral quite different from the inorganic toxic form one gets from cooking with aluminium cookware.

The symbol for aluminium is Al. This is a very reactive substance and is man made.

Bentonite is a dioctahedral smectite (an expanding layer silicate) with its main chemical composition typically of Silicon Si02 60%  and Alumina (aluminum oxide) Al2O3  22%

Clay is classified as an Alumino - silicate and would not be clay without the natural occurrence of alumina oxide.

Be ware of fear campaigns regarding aluminium in clay. We encourage you to make your own mind up.
